Book Review: One By One By Freida McFadden

This story follows Claire while she takes a trip with a group of friends and her husband. Claire and her husband are going through a ruff patch in their marriage. Claire is hoping to make it through the weekend trip without strangling her husband. However, she doesn’t know that it’s going to get a lot worse when their van breaks down leaving them lost in the middle of nowhere.

People are keeping secrets that will come out in the end. As the title states they start going missing or getting murdered one by one. Is it an animal or is it someone among the group?

The plot twists in the story were amazing. Like most Frieda McFadden books there are always a good twist or five. Some I got others I didn’t see coming. I read Frieda’s books for the plot twists. Are some of them a little out there? Yes. Is that going to stop me from reading her work? No.

I love that she creates characters that I don’t like but still route for them to come out on the other side breathing. I know that some people don’t like Frieda’s books but I think they just can’t get behind her morally grey characters. On top of the fact that her stories sometimes are not very realistic. However, this is why I like her stories. When I read I don’t want to see what’s coming not to mention these aren’t non fiction novels they are different worlds then our own.

A small issue I had with the story was the one loose end that wasn’t explained that I can’t stop thinking about. I don’t want to spoil anything so I don’t want to go into too much detail. So I’ll just say that I need all the loose ends tied in a nice bow.

All in all I’m giving One by One a ⭐⭐⭐⭐️ out of 5 stars.
